First Exposure
Oct 2015
So this is the part where I’m supposed to write about myself, not an easy task.
This is the page, the space, where artists describe their glorified academic background, where they interned, what awards they won and where in the world their work was displayed. The whole shabang. Legit. However, a bit intimidating to a person who shares this world with them but never had any “formal” training in this profession. So yes, I came here from a different background, I never really felt comfortable calling myself an artist, I guess it’s because I don’t have the official academic stemp (does a para medical degree counts?).
But what actually defines an artist? Who can actually call himself this way? Is an artist a person who makes a living of his craft? A person who works X hours a day on his craft? What defines an artwork? And why is it even important? An interesting question. A quick web search taught me that I was not alone. I couldn't find a definite answer to my question, there are no rules and no definitions for real. To each his own. What a relief! But I’m sure even this is arguable.
Anyway, I’ve decided it’s time to stop wasting time and energy, put all the definitions and certificates aside, and focus on the one thing that really matters - C-R-E-A-T-I-O-N.
I started doing art sometime in 2004, sewing dolls, Handmade crafts, sculpturing in Papier-mâché, painting and more.
In 2008 I was I was first introduced to clay and haven’t stopped sculpturing since. For me, sculpturing is not a source to make a living. Because of that, I have complete and absolute freedom to do whatever is on my mind, What fun!. The sculpturing provide me a space to express all those feelings, emotions and thoughts that accompany my life experiences. Each sculpture represent a moment in my life, a feeling or a state of mind, and sometimes even real milestone. For that reason, each sculpture is one of a kind. I sculpt from within and let the moment lead my way.
Like a writer who's writing for himself, I found myself sculpturing to the shelves at home :) shy away from showing my works, feeling that they might not be good, sophisticated or interesting enough.
After contemplating for a really long time, I’ve decided it’s time to get out to the world, step by step I will learn to expose myself, share and see that it’s not as scary as I though and actually I have nothing to lose. Who knows, it might even be fun!
So this is my first step. A WEBSITE.
I hope you enjoy it,
